My thoughts about General Hospital. I'll do my best to not get 'ranty' and I invite you to join in.

he's back!
I'd love for Franco to show up with little Jake under his arm, all twisted smiles and lure Jason away from his vows. Of course, Jason would run after Franco in a heartbeat. Would it really be Jake or a lookalike? That would be such a cruel twist? I know I pushed the "Franco switched the body" storyline a lot when Jake was first hit, but now I wonder wouldn't it be even MORE painful for the audience and Jason if we thought it was Jake and it wasn't. Sigh. I do love a BIG drama!
Still, I'm giving GW (Garin Wolf, new head writer) a little slack if all that happens is Franco waves another murder in Jason's face because he (GW) was left with a bunch of dangling participles, so to speak, and he's got to clean everything up, re-sort, and make things interesting again with a much wider canvas. It's a big job and I'm glad he's opted in for the challenge.
I'm not expecting an overnight miracle but by Jan I'd expect things to be really humming along. That's more than enough time to clean up the old storylines and start anew.
So ... I'm being patiently entertained for now :)
and optimistic!

back in the hospital... with GH!
GH is getting GREAT again!
Monica and Edward together? With Sam? and they all stand up for themselves against Carly? Amazing!
I couldn’t stand the overdose of Dante with Lulu but I love Dante standing up to Sonny, and I love Dante helping Elizabeth. There’s still so much silliness of Lucky and the one dry match, where did the dog go, what crazy timeline is Jax/Joss/Sonny/Shawn on but it’s better. So much so.
We have even been treated to Skye and Mac and Bob the Badger!
I hate Jason having another brain surgery/coma, and the ensuing change (because I have loved the ‘new Jason' that we’ve been treated to this past year, the softer Jason yet still with a steely edge). And yes, with Patrick digging around in his frontal lobe with his ego driving the charge you can only wonder what will happen to Jason's poor, abused brain; but ultimately I’m not complaining about ‘the show’.
GH is interesting and fun and dark and full of demons again. There is MORE happening at the hospital than anywhere else right now. Sure, Sonny is flailing his gun around but that has less to do with ‘the mob’ and more to do with him being mad at Jax and off his meds. Any man with anger issues could go that route, if you don’t believe me look at the news.
So, bravo to Garin Wolf for taking a show that had been stuck on repeat and et al for so long and stirring the mud. Sure, in the guise of ‘they’ll come back’ along with the beloved faces of characters we’ve missed I’m sure we’ll see a resurgence of familiar storyline but thus far they seem to be treated with a breath of fresh air.

GH murmurs... Katie Couric, and NLG Tweets... :(
A few things:
#1
The first really bums me out although I guess I knew it was coming:
I've read 4 different places today that GH will be cancelled Sept 2012 and Katie Couric will take the 3pm slot.
Well it will be pretty easy to avoid ABC at that point on but man am I bummed out. I've watched GH 40+ years :(
KC is a free agent.

It's still speculation until Brian Frons posts a YouTube video.

Inside Edition is asking people to post what they thought of DWTS last night.
The Protest ABC Across America peeps are asking people to post why they don't watch ABC/DWTS

Nancy Lee Grahn posted on twitter this morning:
twitter research question; How many of you would pay $10 a month to watch a new daily serial with Daytime A-listers?
I would definitely subscribe. $10 is a lot, but we pay for channels we don't watch and when SoapNet and all of the other soaps are cancelled... Sure, sign me up. I just hope there is more than just one show in the slot :)

A Soap Advertiser Responds to Protests
A reader at About.com General Hospital Fans blog is putting action where her mouth is -- she's contacting advertisers -- has received the following from Hoover, and it's an incredible response.
This is so inspiring. If you love soaps start writing!
To all the loyal ABC soap fans, I want you to know from me personally that we hear you loud and clear. My wife and mother are both passionate viewers of All My Children and One Life to Live as are many of my colleagues here at Hoover. We were and are as disappointed with this news as you are. In fact, we will discontinue our advertising with ABC this Friday, 4/22.
We're making every attempt to pull our spots from these programs sooner. Because we feel that's not enough, we also want to help get your voice heard with ABC.
So, we've set up a special email address, SaveTheSoaps@Hoover.com, to help pull together the mass emotional outpouring of support for our beloved ABC soaps and get it to our contacts at ABC. Please, send your emails to us at SaveTheSoaps@Hoover.com, and we'll get every, single last one of them to ABC.
We're 150% committed to doing what matters most to you - so if there's anything else we can do to help or you have any ideas, please email this address, and we will respond to you personally. Thank you for standing up for what matters to you! We need more of that in this world.
Brian Kirkendall Vice President of Marketing Hoover

Agnes Nixon vows to keep AMC and OLTL alive
"Although ABC has concluded there is no longer a place for our shows on their network, I will do everything possible to keep them alive. God bless you all." Agnes Nixon --Entertainment Weekly
Bravo to Agnes Nixon. Let's all support whatever efforts she comes up with to keep AMC and OLTL alive, wherever possible.
Is there anyone out there passionate about GH?
(aside from us??)

“GH is Safe for Time Being”
This in depth interview with Disney/ABC Head of Daytime Brian Frons really does not shed light on why AMC and OLTL were canceled. It only offers his justification for his and Disney/ABCs callous actions that left hundreds of actors, behind the scenes employees, and journalists at two soap magazines out of work.

I’m going to start watching Y&R next week since it looks like that’s where the GH actors have been going these days. At least I’ll have a fallback for long arc daytime drama.
After that.. I suppose it’s webisodes and local theater.
