General Hospital in crisis - in real life

The fate of General Hospital will be determined at an Affiliates meeting today/tomorrow in Pasadena. So says many very reliable online resources. It faces replacement by GMA-pm. Yep... another Good Morning America, in the afternoon. So ABC's daytime lineup will completely eliminate the soap opera genre and General Hospital will not reach it's 50th Anniversary.

If you care, as I do, please reach out to your local affiliate. Let them know you support them and General Hospital. It is the last of a dying breed (daytime drama). Talk shows, news shows, and reality programming have taken over the daytime air hours and are taking over the night time hours as well. My passion is for a show I've watched my entire life.

The Big Three - let's mix it up, please!

There are three main characters that we see almost every day on General Hospital. Carly, Jason, and Sonny. Love them or hate them, they fill up most of the week.  I wish we could see a wider spread of other characters every day, but I like the big three, in my own way.

Carly: I'm not a Carly fan (character) per se, but I love all of the actresses who have played her over the years. However when they put Carly in scenes with other characters besides Sonny and Jason (Kate, Johnny, Shawn, Sam as Girl Friends) then I really like her. So, maybe what I like is a different or unexpected Carly.  The more variance the more I like the character. The scene with Carly/Jason figuring out C?Ks D.I.D. went on way too long for me.

Jason: I love Jason but what have the writers done to him? Where is his quick mental process and power of deductive reasoning? He is so clouded by emotion he can't think (Actually it's brilliant if planned but probably was not). Poor Jason, he used to be sharp as a tack. What happened to his role as protector? How can he abandon Sam and her baby (which I still believe is his, anyway). Plus, how hard was it to put D.I.D. together? No smart phones? No Google? I did love Johnny doing 'research' by reading Vicki/Jess's book from OLTL (Oh Yes They D.I.D., They Story of Vicki /Nicki and Jess/Tess)!

Sonny: I like Sonny in unexpected ways. Usually that means with Molly (and Kristina who is returning) who we never see anymore, or when he stops thinking about himself to realize someone else is in pain. When he is caught off guard, the kind, protective, nice, strong Sonny emerges. (He saw Jason's pain and missed C?Ks however I hope once he realizes what’s going on that THIS kind protector Sonny will emerge to help her.) Sonny has more layers than a fancy dip but we don't often see him in this role. I especially tire of the arrogant jerk which I know covers vulnerability (let's see more of that!). We get "sexy-time" Sonny,  "know it all" Sonny, "confess all my troubles to my kid Michael" Sonny,  "Angry" and "Seething" Sonny (powerful to watch), but there is that other layer which is pretty awesome and when the writers let Maurice show it, I always think... WOW.

There are SO many other characters on this show we seldom see and LOVE, and I wish we could see more of them besides in their little groups. Yes, some days I only interact with my hubs because I work at home. But GH should mix it up. Shoot, even on Gossip Girl EVERYONE gets into EVERYONE'S business.

Killer Iced Tea

It took awhile but we finally figured out how Starr was supposed to kill mob boss Sonny.

If she continued that whining tone much longer Sonny would have no choice left but to grab the gun from her, put it to his head and pull the trigger. Ah, but Michael’s arrival spoiled that (and hopefully she will shut up for a bit) I am terribly sorry about her boyfriend/fiance of 10 seconds/babydaddy and her daughter but as my hubs says, ‘put a cork in it!’

There were some decent lines that just fell flat and sounded silly. It is really too bad.

Maybe Starr needs to stop by ol’ Heather’s for some iced tea.

Jonny in bed with Connie?Kate because he HAS TO?

Realizing TPTB wanted an artifice to get Johnny/Connie?Kate in bed and Sonny/Carly back together (again? WHY? ugh!) I just still think it makes Johnny look weak and he has come so far (up until the organ donor thing). I really hoped that Sonny was setting him up for that one but I don’t think Johnny is ‘the mobster with a heart of gold’, despite BB and his sweet/sizzling demeanor. I think Johnny IS a Zaccharra. Sigh :(

There were two parts I liked about Johnny sleeping with C?K.
1) When Sonny was railing at them and C?K was sitting in the bed so quietly, but we could watch the emotions run across her face. I felt like I was watching Connie let Kate have a peek, then take control, the let Kate have a peek, over and over. It was magnificent. Maybe I’m reading WAY too much into it, but that is what I saw and for me it was golden.
2) “Shut Up Connie”.
The horror on Johnny and C?K’s face and the confusion on Carly’s was worth Sonny missing them and shooting the wall.

I don’t understand why half the time Sonny waves that gun around and says “I’ll Kill You!” but doesn’t. Dang it Sonny, shoot someone or put up the gun. You look like a fool waving it around.
Could Johnny have made a better choice? Yes
Should he have for his own personal salvation? Yes
Would that have made for a better storyline?
Well, if he took off, and Sonny showed up and found C?K sitting in Johnny’s trashed apartment with her clothes ostensibly torn and sobbing on cue Sonny would go after him.
IF Johnny called Sonny AND Ewen on conference call and maybe 911 and said ‘there is a crazy woman trashing my apartment” then maybe he’d have a chance, but only because Ewen was involved.
Now we see Ewen on a stretcher and he’s the only one that knows anything about C?K besides Johnny except for Jason, Matt, and Spinelli’s suspicions. Oopsie. Someone needs to put a call in to Shadybrook!

Jax is back!

We (DH and I) figured it was Jax's 'rippling abs' that Elizabeth has been fantasizing about and laughed about Jax living on Spoon Island because heaven forbid Jax actually "GO" somewhere with that nice big boat and access to fortunes. This way he can skulk around Windemere and Port Charles and turn up just in time to see Carly fall into bed with Shawn.

Of course, since Lucky is soon to be departed perhaps Elizabeth's fantasy will turn to reality since I think this is a unique pairing for the duo? Elizabeth and Jax.. They would make pretty babies together and it would annoy Carly and perhaps even the stalwart Jason.

I wonder if the 'real GH' will be as intriguing as the possibilities?
sigh.

Welcome Back Ingo!

an important death on GH - who do you think it is?

"A few old characters (who have probably been recast) will be returning due to an important death." My mind goes to Ned, Dylan, and Lois returning...
And my mind goes to Edward.

I hope it isn't Edward. Well, I hope it isn't anyone important, but then again then it wouldn't be important, would it? It's bad enough they are going to paralyze Kristina. First Michael in a coma, now Kristina is paralyzed. I can't imagine what the future will be for Molly and Morgan or Joss (and this so soon after Jake was killed). Kids are always the biggest targets on GH.

I think I read last year that John Ingle wanted to retire but oh I love Edward, and the Qs. Skye's repeated request/demand 'don't hurt Edward' directed to Anthony has been prickling the hairs on my arms.

John Ingle is 83 - 2 years younger than my dad. If he's ready for a break, he deserves it. He is a wonderful actor, and one of my favorites. But selfishly, I hope to see him for much, much longer.

(And maybe I'm wrong. It could be Sonny or Carly or Lucky or anyone for that matter. This is just where I went...)

GH - STILL at the Hospital!

At least it all is happening AT THE HOSPITAL!

Fans have been clamoring for years that nothing happens at the hospital.. now, almost everything is.

I'm just waiting for the trail of icing to start piping out of one of the operating room machines with Spinelli fast on its trail, covered in gook, as Matt and Patrick are arguing over who is going to make the first cut for the autopsy on the body of Siobahn, because, you know, they do ALL med procedures now.

j/k

I'm not really complaining. The pace has picked up. We always check the DVR date now and wonder if we missed a show? Things are moving along and not hanging on the same storyline for days and weeks and months. (although this could be a budget thing, especially if GH is in fact doomed, and this way they can get more story complete and out before 'The End')

So, is it great? nah, but it's more interesting, and I don't yell at the TV as much as I used to, which, in effect, makes it great. I don't expect instant 'anything'.

As far as why Elizabeth was assigned to Siobahn? Well the only nurses are Elizabeth and Epiphany. I just thought that Elizabeth was on 'desk duty' and hadn't been reinstated to patient care yet, so I'm not sure if she 'should' be checking in on Siobahn, or if she just was doing it because she is 'nosy Lizzy'.

As far as Anthony having free run of the hospital - he has at least one guy that we know of there on his payroll who could have been his watch, who knows how many others keep eye.

Do you know what bothered me the MOST about yesterday?? That crazy Anthony would even say he noticed/cared about Liz/Lucky and getting them 'back together'. Puhleeze. Like any mobster/bad guy would care about the love lives of his victims. (oh wait, Franco).

Never mind, this is GH/Port Charles (or as Luke says, Port Chuckles, so if it doesn't make sense, laugh!)

Best line though?? "I'll kill him one pill at a time"
That gave me the shivers.
